Woman in the US are asking for the same shopping experience in the states as they would have in the Gulf. However, there are no stores in the local malls to shop in for abaya.
Too often product quality is very poor while selection extremely minimal.

During his time in retail, Tony also designed for Miss America and Miss USA contestants.
The Tony Bowls Collection was featured in the opening numbers of the 2006 Miss Texas Pageant and America’s Outstanding Teen 2006 Competition, and on former Miss America Deidre Downs as well as eleven contestants of the 2006 Miss America Pageant. Tony has also dressed numerous contestants for 2006 state pageants, including several winners who moved on to compete in the 2007 Miss America Pageant. Tony designs were also featured on the first season of MTV’s hot reality show, “Tiara’s Girls”. In addition, Tony’s designs were graced by Barker’s Beauties during CBS’s “The Price is Right Million Dollar Spectacular,” Bob Barker’s final appearance in prime time. ABC Family’s new reality show, “America’s Prom Queen” also showcased Tony’s designs. Most recently, Tony dressed 2009 Miss America Katie Stam as well as ten other contestants for the pageant.

A walk through her studio was like walking into a fabric candy store. The bead work is exquisite she designs her own patterns. Marisu Miranda graduated with a BFA in Fashion Stylizing and Design from Barcelona, Spain. Coming from a highly creative family in the apparel industry, she opened her own business in Barcelona before moving to New York where she was head designer for companies such as Bugle Boy, Gitano, Network Ind., and others.
Marisu has taught Fashion Design at the International Academy of Design & Technology, Tampa, Florida, and conducts Fashion and Styling workshops out of her studio, Marisu Miranda Moda, in Tampa. She participates in the Orlando Fashion and Beauty Show and the Orlando Expo, and her designs have been featured in international fashion newspapers and magazines.
In addition to writing fashion columns for local newspapers in Spain, Marisu has been quoted by the Tampa Tribune, the St. Petersburg Times, Univision, Telemundo, and radio stations throughout Europe. Recently, she critiqued the fashions appearing at the Oscar ceremonies for several media outlets.
Marisu owned and directed a Trend Forecasting Service that followed the latest trends from Spain.
Marisu Miranda's fashion designs have been nominated and won several international competitions.
Marisu continues to consult for fashion companies and endeavors to help people enjoy dressing for success.

Break into the American Market in one of the hottest places in the US- ATLANTA aka HOTLANTA the original birth place of urban fashion in the deep south ! God willing, this July I plan to take AL Laylat to Fashion Week. Breaking into the US market with abaya has been risky but more and more I see that modest fashion design is taking the fashion world by storm. Atlanta Fashion Week is an opportunity for abaya and modest clothing designers or diverse cultures to come together and show their designs and talents. I would really like to see other modest clothing designers enter and please leave a comment if you would like to participate in this event .
